ACUPUNCTURE

Physiotherapist Doing AccupunctureAcupuncture is the art and science of redirecting the flow of Qi and blood through the body’s channels, the invisible aqueduct system that transports essential substances to our organs, tissues, and bones. Redirecting the flow of Qi and blood is accomplished by stimulating of specific acupuncture points along the channels where essential substances flow close to the skin’s surface.

Energy (Qi) travels through meridians as seen in the illustration to the right. Needles are inserted into specific points to affect the necessary channel(s). Both distal and local points are used for most conditions. Other techniques such as Gua Sha, cupping, needle stimulation and herbal prescriptions may be used.
